Global Crossroads: IUPUI and Gaza University

March 5, 2012 § Leave a comment

In an earlier post, I introduced Gaza University and gave insights into my class this semester which enables us engage in dialogue with students in Gaza. I am excited to give a brief introduction on my Gaza University partner, Layali Bobo.

Layali is a junior at the university majoring in Communication Studies and English Language. In my conversation with her on Skype, I discovered her to be a very vibrant and jolly young woman and also had the opportunity to meet her lovely family, made up of 4 sons and her husband. In our discussions, I got to learn a lot about her family history and just from her description of a typical day in Gaza and understand the extent of the crisis experienced in the Middle East.

We are also required to make introduction videos on ourselves, which would include insights into our families and typical days or events that occur in our communities. Click here to view my video and Layali’s will be posted soon 😀

International Fashion Show…Great Success

February 20, 2012 § 2 Comments

On Friday 2/17, the I-club hosted their third annual International fashion show. As one of the models, I knew it was going to be a huge success but I was just as shocked as the organizers when we were told that the room was packed with observers 30 minutes before the start of the show! It was a wonderful experience and there have been nothing but excellent feedback and reviews about the whole event. Kudos to everyone involved 😀
