The efforts of One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) in bringing modern forms of education to  third world nations, particularly for the elementary school students has been really impressive. Their main goal is to develop and provide the “100 dollar laptop” (Children’s Machine XO Laptop) to students in these countries. For more information on the organization, click here

    Hi Gloria.

    Thanks for the update re the One Laptop per Child effort. An added incentive for supporting the effort is that two weeks ago a massive fire destroyed an education ministry warehouse in Peru holding thousands of these laptops and other educational materials. It was a devastating blow to education in that country. Here’s an article on it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-17320251. You might want to talk about this and highlight the importance of supporting the effort to replace those materials. Thanks.
